By Eliminating The Interference

The Adjustment

At Lifetime Wellness Chiropractic, we use several techniques in the treatment of our patients. For the common patient, Dr. Lain uses the Thomspon Technique. This technique incorporates the use of a table that drops in various areas to allow the most specific adjustment to the spine. The other techniques that are used include the Webster and Logan techniques. These are techniques mainly used for the adjustment of the expecting mother. These techniques are used on a case by case basis in response to the needs of each patient.

The official definition of the Webster technique as taught by the ICPA Certification program is as follows: "The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that reduces interference to the nerve system and balances maternal pelvic muscles and ligaments. This in turn reduces torsion in the uterus, a cause of intra-uterine constraint of the baby and allows for optimal fetal positioning in preparation for birth."

Upon the evaluation of the spine (done each visit), Dr. Lain will then apply a low force, high velocity thrust into the specific vertebra. This thrust will allow the vertebra to move back into its proper position and thus causing there to be a decrease in the pressure and chemical responses that has been developing. Because the body has become used to the position, there may need to be several visits to 'train' it to be in its proper place. If you are visiting the office post-trauma, such as a car accident, the same concept applies. This is because the body is guarding an area that has been damaged by the forces endured during the accident.

Exercises:
Along with the Chiropractic adjustment, Dr. Lain will require different types of exercises that can be done at home as well as in the office. These different types of exercises are to help the body become stronger in certain areas so that the muscles can hold the spine in place. Remember, the muscles not only help the body move and function but they also help keep the spine and other bones of the body stabilized.

Health Care Classes:
These are developed to educate our patients on everyday activities that can cause damage to the body. These classes are free to the public. We encourage our patients to come and learn more about what they can do to help prevent different injuries to the body.
